This parti set the stage for the design of Fallingwater as “organic architecture” symbolizing the harmony between people and nature (Hoffman 1993). This harmony is based on an understanding of the space and location of the Fallingwater house.
Historically, architects would create a parti early in the design process to clarify the project's direction. The parti helps communicate the driving idea behind the design to stakeholders and serves as a reference point throughout the development of the project.
